This report written by the International Livestock Research Institute for the World Economic Forum’s Meat: the Future series explores the role of the livestock sector in developing and emerging economies to 2030 and beyond.
The report finds that demand for animal products is rising modestly in high-income countries and rapidly in Africa (mainly due to an increasing population) and in Asia (due to rising incomes as well as increasing population).
The report also examines the role that livestock plays with respect to human health, food security, livelihoods and the environment. It also explores the future of different styles of livestock production (e.g. smallholders and industrial-scale farms).
Thanks to FCRN member Danilo Pezo for bringing this report to our attention.
