The ODI report 'Future Diets' traces how the changes in diet - more fat, more meat, more sugar and bigger portions - have led to a looming global health crisis.
Problems of overweight and obesity are are rising fastest in middle income countries - North Africa and the Middle East, and Latin America now have almost the same percentage of overweight or obese people as Europe. The report also looks at how policy-makers have tried to address our eating patterns. One of the examples the report highlights comes from South Korea, where a concerted government-led campaign has resulted in South Koreans eating 300% more fruit and 10% more vegetables in 2009 compared to 1980.
