The FCRN’s Tara Garnett appeared on The Food Programme by BBC Radio 4 in the episode “Eating Animals Part 2: A Meat Q&A”. The programme also featured Patrick Holden of The Sustainable Food Trust and writer and environmental campaigner George Monbiot.
The programme addresses several topics related to meat consumption, including rewilding and reforesting, rebuilding soil fertility, inequality in access to food, the role of lab-grown meat, trends in meat consumption and livestock farming, the climate impacts of methane from ruminants and rice, animal welfare, whether change needs to be systemic or led by individuals, and alternatives to meat such as lentils, peas or other beans that can be grown in the UK.
