Several media outlets have reported on the substantial environmental impacts caused by the on-going conflict in Gaza including water and soil contamination, the health issues associated with sewage management problems and the greenhouse gas emissions associated with Israel’s military action in Gaza. These environmental impacts have implications for the short-term food production potential in the region and for the long term food security of Palestinians in Gaza.

Several media outlets have reported on the substantial environmental impacts caused by the on-going conflict in Gaza. The Jerusalem Post has reported on water and soil contamination and the potential negative impact on agricultural and human health in the Gaza border area. Euro News has explored the health issues associated with sewage management problems due to the Israeli imposed limits on fuel entering the region. The investigation found contamination of soil and water due to explosive detonation and other military activity. The Guardian has also reported on the greenhouse gas emissions associated with Israel’s aerial bombardment and ground invasion of Gaza. These environmental impacts have implications for the short-term food production potential in the region and for the long term food security of Palestinians in Gaza.
