The EU has published a series of energy scenarios exploring future energy use and CO2 emissions to 2050 - World Energy Technology Outlook - 2050. According to the reference scenario, world energy use is predicted to more than double, as will global CO2 emissions.
The EU has published a series of energy scenarios exploring future energy use and CO2 emissions to 2050 - World Energy Technology Outlook - 2050. According to the reference scenario, world energy use is predicted to more than double, as will global CO2 emissions.
Two alternative scenarios are modelled - the "carbon constraint case" and the "hydrogen case." These look at what things might look like and what technologies might need to be deployed to keep the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere down to 500 ppm (nb - still higher than the "safe" level of 450 ppm).
