UNEP’s 10 Year Framework of Programs (10YFP) is an initiative focused on sustainable consumption and production. It aims to enhance international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards this goal in both developed and developing countries.
It was during the Rio+20 meeting that the10YFP was first adopted and now the initiative has advanced through the completion of an inaugural board meeting and the nomination of global, regional and national focal points. The Rio conference reaffirmed that Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) is a cornerstone of sustainable development.
Some of the suggested possible areas of programme development for the 10YFP are:
- Consumer information
- Sustainable lifestyles and education
