Scenario building to assess GHG emissions from food

Defra Project FO0404: Scenario building to test and inform the development of a BSI method for assessing GHG emissions from food.

This research project undertakes a number of carbon footprinting analyses to test the BSI's PAS 2050 carbon footprinting methodology and to identify any limitations of the approach.

The analysis covers all major stages of the food chain from pre-farm gate to manufacturing, but does not include the distribution or retail stages.

The number of food items covered in this report is very extensive, covering the main cereal and livestock commodities (including some from overseas), fruits and vegetables and a few processed products.

There is also an individual study of a ready made cottage pie which is presented as a separate report.
