The Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) has published its Ninth Report of Session 2005-06, entitled Reducing Carbon Emissions from Transport. This report examines and makes key recommendations on reducing carbon from every form of transport.
The report concludes that the Department for Transport seems to see carbon-intensive activities and economic growth as going hand in hand, and argues that the Government should take much more decisive action to shift the balance of affordability in favour of trains, buses, and lower carbon cars and lorries. The report makes 64 recommendations to this effect.
