'Land Grabbing' by Foreign Investors in Developing Countries

Published by IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute) in April 2009, this Policy Briefing Paper on large scale foreign investments in agriculture in the developing world looks at the pros and cons of foreign investment in land.

It argues for a code of conduct for foreign land acquisition and emphasises that an internationally accepted code of conduct should not just consist of general statements without consequences, but should have "teeth" and gives examples of measures that could be adopted to ensure this.
