Healthcare Climate Food Initiative / Balanced Menu Challenge

Healthcare without Harm's Balanced Menu Challenge is a voluntary commitment that a healthcare institution can make to reduce their meat procurement by at least 20% within a 12-month period.

Healthcare without Harm provides tools to support institutions in measuring their procurement and climate impact baselines, in setting benchmark goals, and measuring results.

It also provides a recipe database and technical assistance on how to implement Balanced Menus strategies, and can put those interested in touch with others who have taken up the challenge.

For info, Healthcare without Harm is an international coalition of hospitals and health care systems, medical professionals, community groups, health-affected constituencies, labor unions, environmental and environmental health organizations and religious groups. It works on a range of issues covering chemicals, waste, sustainable buildings, green purchasing, pharmaceuticals and food, among others.
