Global Dairy Industry signs Agenda for Action

The global dairy industry have produced a document called Global Dairy Agenda for Action where they have publically made a commitment to:

1. Promote the development of a standard methodology framework for assessing the carbon footprint of milk and dairy products based on robust science;
2. Promote adoption of world's best practices and actions within the global dairy sector.
3. Seek to advance the establishment of tools to facilitate measurement and monitoring of emissions both on-farm and in dairy manufacturing.
4. Promote improved farmer understanding of agricultural emissions and opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on farm.
5. Support sharing information and aligning research efforts to develop cost effective mitigation technologies for both on farm and manufacturing application.

   The signatories to this Agenda for Action are: IDF (International Dairy Federation); SAI (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative)
   GDP (Global Dairy Platform); IFAP (International Federation of Agricultural Producers); EDA (European Dairy Association)
   FEPALE (Pan American Dairy Federation); ESADA (Eastern and Southern African Dairy Association).

   Signatories have also produced a green paper to provide evidence of the industry's commitment to sustainability.
