The Economical Environmentalist

Prashant Vase has recently written a book entitled The Economical Environmentalist (Earthscan). Prashant is an environmental economist trying to live a low-carbon life in London.

In distilling and building on his own experience of trying to live a low carbon life, he helps us navigate the choices that confront us all - families, singletons, pensioners - when making decisions about what to eat, what to buy, how to travel and how to keep warm.

Readers are taken through the choices of three real people who are trying to decarbonise on a budget: a twenty-something starting out in work, a father with two school children holding down a hectic job and a pensioner on a fixed income. He works out the sums and lets us know which choices will make the biggest difference, and which are false savings.

Prashant has also developed a carbon calculator, which you can find here.
