CGIAR (Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research)

CGIAR is a strategic partnership of countries, international and regional organizations and private foundations supporting the work of 15 international Centers.

Working in collaboration with others (inclucing national govenments and the private sector) the CGIAR's goal is to achieve sustainable food security and reduce poverty in developing countries through scientific research and research-related activities in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, policy, and environment. Individual research centres include IRRI (the International Rice Research Institute), IFPRI (the International Food Policy Research Institute) and ILRI (the International Livestock Research Institute).
