Cadbury 2008 CSR review

Published in November 2008, Cadbury has committed to achieving an an absolute reduction in net carbon emissions of 50% by 2020. In 2007, Cadbury total C02e emissions were about 818,686 tonnes. Emissions by the end of 2007 were reduced by 3.6%, as compared to 2006, and the company estimates a 10% reduction by 2010.

Note that these are manufacturing stage emissions - they don't include the embedded emissions of the confectionary itself.

Cadbury also commits to sustainably source at least half of its key agricultural raw materials, such as cocoa, sugar, palm oil, and gum arabic, for core brands by 2010. Progress towards sustainability will be measured against the company's sustainability assessment template which it has completed and which consists of economic, social and environmental criteria such as traceability, quality, working conditions, biodiversity, energy and water use, and labour practices.
