About City University

City is home to the Centre for Food Policy, a leading interdisciplinary centre dedicated to shaping an effective food system. It has been at the cutting-edge of education, research and impact in food policy for over 20 years. The Centre is guided by four strategic priorities: to provide the evidence needed to support the development, design and delivery of food policy; to translate our scholarship into practice by actively seeking to have impact on policy; to produce a larger and stronger generation of leaders, decision-makers and influencers in food policy equipped with the skill of food systems thinking for the real world; and to be a vibrant, energetic, and stimulating place to learn and work where everyone’s contribution is valued.

The Centre’s research focuses on policies to reshape the food system, systems approaches to decision- making in food policy, and generating insights from “lived experience” for more equitable food policy. To do so, we engage with people across the food system to uncover how it really works in practice.

About the role:

The main responsibility of the post-holder is to lead the design and delivery of the research to contribute towards answering the question: what policies and governance structures are needed to support transformative food system change? Specifically, the postholder will conduct research on the interactions between various local and regional food systems governance interventions and contextualise them within broader national and international food systems governance trends. The postholder will work closely with Dr Christopher Yap and Dr Rebecca Wells within the ‘Policy and Governance’ workstream on the FixOurFood programme.
