About our Organisation
The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.
We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn't do any of this without our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world where it’s needed the most.
About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to shaping attitudes and action for a food and farming system that delivers positive outcomes for climate, nature and health, to build the Soil Association's reputation, and to position our flagship brands as valuable enablers for change. As Marketing and Communications Director, you will ensure we create opportunities, built from impact evidence and storytelling, to grow funding, expand our influence and deliver impact through valued solutions. You will ensure comms operational support is in place to deliver the agreed needs of our key SA programmes, products and services, and will ensure we build collective power and impact from the SA partner and influencer network. As a leader and director, you will ensure effective communications & marketing actions and efficient ways of working between Soil Association marcomms colleagues and the organisation.
About You
You will have substantial cross-functional leadership skills, and success in directing change in a substantial marcomms function. Experienced in all aspects of marcomms, you can evidence responsibility for delivery of the overall organisational strategy through effective marcomms, for developing and managing brand strategy for an established brand to achieve organisational objectives, and departmental management experience of business planning and budgeting, and managing a high-performing team. You lead beyond authority, with developed emotional intelligence to bring people together around common goals.
You positively embrace the people dimensions of the role, consistently demonstrating leadership behaviours consistent with our values. You can present complex issues to multiple audiences, and rapidly assimilate new information. Adaptable to a changing environment, you're a creative, strategic thinker with an understanding of food/farming and its impacts, and empathy with our aims.
