In May 2022, Hubbub joined the Compostable Coalition UK as an independent partner to dig deep into the world of compostables.
A two-year, multi-stakeholder initiative that received funding from UK Research and Innovation, Hubbub and psychologists at the University of Sheffield led the consumer behaviour angle of the project to explore how well compostable packaging can be correctly identified and disposed of, through three trials:
- A closed-loop trial: with offices in central London that use compostable packaging in their canteens
- A local authority trial: with residents in Medway who could temporarily dispose of compostable packaging in their food and garden waste bins
- A take-back trial: with Riverford Organic Farmers, who enable their customers to return compostable packaging to Riverford with their next delivery
Join us virtually for a one-hour session, where we’ll dig into the three trials and explore:
- The behaviour change interventions we tested and their impact
- How we can make it easier for consumers to identify compostable packaging and know how to dispose of it
- Our recommendations on when compostable packaging should, or shouldn’t, be used
Expect 45 minutes of presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.
During the webinar, hear from:
- Rosie Sharp: Creative Partner - Plastics & Packaging, Hubbub
- Dr Nicola Buckland: Senior Lecturer in Psychology, University of Sheffield
