Organiser's description (via Shropshire Good Food Partnership):
Join us for this online event focused on using a food systems lens to build food resilience in our communities. This is a webinar designed for Town and Parish Councillors and community food champions who want to ensure a resilient local food system for their citizens and communities in a fast-changing world.
Civil Food Resilience not only focuses on how our food needs are met in crisis, but how proactive and collaborative work to raise the baseline of security and wellbeing can be acted on right now.
Daphne will discuss the instability of our food system and how it presents threats to civil food resilience at the local level. This will be followed by what local councils and community groups can do to create a bespoke local food strategy to build food resilience.
Dr. Daphne Du Cros of the Shropshire Good Food Partnership earned her PhD from the Centre for Food Policy at City, St. George's University, which focused on the ways that councils and civil society groups collaborated when developing local level food strategies for sustainable local level food production.
