Organiser's description (via Global Food Security IRC, Cambridge University)
According to the UN, if food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions after China and the US.
This webinar from the University of Cambridge will examine the connection between food labelling and food waste. Our expert panel will discuss what the food labelling system is designed to achieve. Does it keep us from eating out of date food or create confusion so that food which could have been eaten perfectly safely is wasted.
What are the solutions, and can we create a more circular system that both cuts down food waste and keeps us safe?
This is a follow up to the webinar What a Waste: circular food systems and sustainable diets organised by Cambridge Global Food Security and Cambridge Infectious Diseases last year.
The panel:
- Caroline Conroy, Sustainability Sector Specialist, WRAP
- Amy Hooper, Biffa
- Dr Milorad Radakovic, Teaching Fellow in Veterinary Public Health, University of Cambridge)
- Rebecca Sudworth, Head of Policy, Food Standards Agency
Chair: Professor Yasemin Kor, Judge Business School, University of Cambridge
