Job: Senior Farming Advisor (Maternity Cover), Soil Association, Bristol, UK

Date
Soil Association

Advertiser's description (via Soil Association):

About Soil Association

The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.

We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn't do any of this without our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world where it’s needed the most.

About the role

An exciting opportunity within the Farming and Land Use Team at the Soil Association to lead our work across two European Soil Mission Horizon Programmes. One programme focusing on using artificial intelligence to monitor and predict soil health for farmers and growers across Europe and the other is developing an online training programme on soil health for advisors. You will also be responsible for the provision of nature-based solution and soil health and fertility advice and knowledge exchange to farmers, policy makers and within the Soil Association as a whole.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive technical soil health knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of nature-based solutions and their implementation in different land settings (agriculture, horticulture, industrial, urban/peri-urban)
  • Substantial experience leading and managing complex projects with multiple partners and stakeholders across UK and EU
  • In field experience of soil monitoring and data collection and management
  • Practical experience of agriculture or horticulture and/or advice provision to farmers
