Organiser's description (via the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations):
Please join us for a technical briefing on Thursday, January 23, where we will reflect on the situation of land rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the role of land tenure in restoring rights, securing livelihoods, and rebuilding the economy. Agriculture and agricultural land in the Gaza Strip and West Bank are deeply intertwined with Palestinian society, culture, and identity. Once a ceasefire has been achieved, securing Land Rights will be crucial for achieving justice, food security, and resilience in the reconstruction process.
The discussion will draw on lessons from other crisis and post-crisis contexts – such as Colombia, DRC, Syria, and Timor-Leste – to examine how land disputes have fueled conflicts and how redressing land rights can contribute to post-conflict peace building, justice and reconstruction.
Interpretation will be available in Arabic and Spanish.
