This chapter of the World Watch Institutes State of the World report, 2008, "Meat and Seafood: The Global Diet’s Most Costly Ingredients", considers new innovations and old techniques for maximising food productivity and reducing environmental impacts.

Methods of combining fish and meat production and fish and rice production are considered. It also looks at fuel subsidies and reforms.
