Advertiser's description (via UWE Bristol):

You will support the delivery of a new UKRI-funded research project focused on building evidence for interventions in the food system that support resilience against future vulnerabilities; by exploring the interplay between food system shocks, issues associated with the diversification of UK agriculture, alternatives to just-in-time supply chains and storage, and the optimal balance of self-sufficiency versus imports as well as health impacts.

You’ll conduct research both individually and as part of the team focused on food system stakeholder workshops and consultations, semi-structured interviews with supply chain actors, and literature review of crop and livestock production systems and impact on yield, sustainability, resilience and livelihoods over time. You will liaise regularly with project partners, which include WWF UK, Defra, Food Farming and Countryside Commission, Food Standards Agency, WRAP, Sustain and Trussel Trust.

This exciting project is led at UWE Bristol by Prof Angelina Sanderson Bellamy, within our School of Applied Sciences but is also a collaboration with colleagues at Anglia Ruskin University, University of York, Royal Agricultural University, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The project began on 1 September 2024 and will run for 36 months, with funding for our Research Associate post for 15 months.

About you

You’re proactive, able to work independently and will be required to interact with academics and project partners across several organisations.  You will need to work inclusively across the team to represent UWE Bristol with integrity and professionalism at all times. The work will be varied and you will need to be organised and to be able to multitask effectively.
