Prevalent discourses promote technological solutions and put the onus on eaters to change their consumption practices to mitigate climate change. In this lecture, Alana Mann contests these approaches, arguing that we must acknowledge and address the ecological and economic legacies of colonialism in our food systems, and promote the value of diverse food cultures as sources of resistance and resilience. The event is hosted by City, University of London.
Alana Mann is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney and a key researcher in the University’s Sydney Environment Institute.
